I would like to thank all of the volunteers that help make our worship experience run smoothly every week. The greeters, the choir, the organists, the lectors, the assistant ministers, the communion assistants, the altar care, the bread bakers, and all who help behind the scenes. We are always looking for additional help so that we don’t overwhelm the current volunteers. And if you don’t feel comfortable serving in front of the congregation, there are many “jobs” that don’t require your presence up front. If you would like to volunteer, please see me at church or give me a call. We will make sure that you are trained and assigned to another member to help you until you are comfortable. If there is a particular hymn that you would like to sing, see either myself or May Love and we will try and fit it in. I would like to continue singing Sunday School songs. We could even get the choir to help us become kids again! I am looking for bow makers to help with making new bows for this Christmas. I will supply the ribbon. We might even want to have a bow party before Hanging of the Greens in November! Date to be determined. We will gladly accept donations of our communion wine at any time. We use Manischewitz Concord Grape wine which you can purchase at Giant Eagle.

We have had a remarkably busy summer here at Living Lord. First, we had our Flea Market in June, which went well considering how hot it was that day. We had a lot of folks pull in and check out the vendors and the bake sale. The bake sale went well, and we sold about $500 of items. I requested that any money from the bake sale should be placed into the 60th Anniversary account to help pay for our Open House. Our second project was the Open House. I was a little disappointed at the turnout. But still, our name was out there through advertising, flyers, etc. I have noticed over the past several months we have had many visitors come through the church on Sunday morning. Many are still coming to Sunday services. I believe we have had more people visit us than we have had in a long time. I am hoping that all the advertising we have done this late spring and summer has had something to do with that. Rally Sunday is coming on September 22, with Fellowship after service. We will hold our Second Vote on disaffiliation from the ELCA on Sunday, September 8, 2024. This Sunday, August, 25, I will discuss one more time and rebut several things the Bishop said on her visit to Living Lord on August 18.

From the Fellowship Committee Chairperson, Pam Gerbetz…I just have to thank again all of the bakers who supplied items to our Bake Sale. It was a success even with the terrible heat that day. We made $350 for our efforts. Good job! July’s Fellowship was also a success with strawberry and blueberry treats. I think everyone enjoyed this and I will certainly repeat that one again. In August we are planning our potluck Party on the Patio. This will be our August Fellowship gathering. Check the bulletin board in the narthex for details and a food sign-up sheet. I have been thinking of attempting to sell Christmas cookies in early December. We would need 10-12 bakers. More info to come this fall. I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful summer God has given us!

Things are going well so far this summer. We just finished with our first Flea Market/Garage Sale. We also had a Bake Sale thrown in. The vendor turnout could have been better, but those who were here were happy with their sales that day and would come back. We had a steady stream of cars coming in to see what was going on most of the day. I am sure the excessive heat played a role in all of it. I want to thank everyone who was involved in the planning and the workers who helped that day. Great job! Hope you all have a great summer!
60th Anniversary Picnic and Open House…Our next function here at Living Lord Lutheran Church will be our 60th Anniversary Picnic and Open House on Saturday, July 20, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This function will be open to the public. We will have a Bouncy House, face painting, and balloon animals for the children. There will be a Talent Contest with prizes which should be a lot of fun. The church will be open to the public with information about who we are as a church. We will have new flyers to pass out and will hope again that the congregation takes part.
