From the Pastor, William D. Leitch

During the month of May, we will see Jesus again at the sea shore after his resurrection.  Jesus just makes things happen!  Like an abundant catch of fish!  How simple and seemingly unimportant, yet unexplainable.  Still, only God can do this and Peter recognized Jesus, jumped into the water, and got wet!

After this third Sunday of Easter event, we do not hear about the events and appearances of Jesus after his resurrection, but rather, we go back into the Gospel of John before the crucifixion and “remember when”.

Remember when Jesus told us that He would always be with us like a shepherd who never leaves his sheep?  Remember how he told us that the sheep will always recognize their shepherd as soon as the shepherd speaks?  Remember how he told us to love one another?  Oh, kind of like the shepherd loves his sheep!

Remember when Jesus promised us that He would empower us with the Holy Spirit?  If we think we can’t do something, stop thinking and start doing!  For example, Peter raised Dorcas from the devil!  Who would have thought that was possible?  But it happened.

Remember when Saul got thrown from his horse by a bolt of lightning and a clap of thunder?  That was how Jesus drafted Saul into his mission and ministry to bring the “Good News” to the gentiles.  Jesus changed Saul’s name to Paul – probably a good idea.  There are few names we might know that would cause us to go the other way to avoid.  Jesus needed folks to hear of Paul, who was bringing good news rather than Saul, who was coming to arrest and kill.

Remember Lydia who hosted Paul and his group?  She became one of the first female preachers and started several churches in her area.  Who would have thought that folks in that “man’s world” would have listened to a woman?  Oh yeah!  Paul listened to her!  She didn’t exactly suggest that Paul and his group stay at her house.  She TOLD Paul that he was staying at her house, that she was providing food for them, and that Paul would provide proper instruction for her and her gang!

Wow!  Jesus might be physically gone from our world, but He is in us in a new identity – the Holy Spirit.  Remember when Jesus told us that He and God – the Father – were both the same?  Remember when Jesus told the twelve disciples that He had to depart before they could witness God as the empowering Holy Spirit?  Well, that happened!  And it is happening to us today!

Come and join us in our mission and ministry at Living Lord Lutheran Church and witness the empowerment of the Holy Spirit!

Military Identification…In order to honor all Living Lord members, past and present, that have served in the military, we are beginning an effort to identify those members.  A master alphabetic list of all members will be available to help do that.  The list will be available between services beginning on March 24.  Please help identify those members by putting an oval around the name of the person(s) that you know served in the military.  Please do not guess.  When in doubt, consult with others, family members, or those that may have factual information.  Every effort will be made to identify everyone by May 31.  Questions can be directed to Rich Baringer, Rollie Walters, or Pat Was.

Church Information…Please remember that you can obtain church information from the monthly Lamplighter Newsletter, the Constant Contact emails you receive, on the church website (, on Facebook (, and postings on the church bulletin board.  Church Council Meeting minutes are posted on the bulletin board and sent out via Constant Contact.  We would like to see a better “open rate” when we send information to you via Constant Contact so that we know you are being informed of the activities that are occurring at the church.  If you have any other suggestions on how best to reach out to our parishioners, please see a Council member.
